Miracle in Newark, OH

Update 1-15-18: We have received several good applications for this pup, so aren't taking more at this time. Thank you!

This sweet little Cavalier girl is a Miracle in more than name. She is intelligent, well behaved, beautiful, and has the biggest brown eyes and most adorable freckles you have ever seen! While she's currently rocking a shorter hair do, there is no doubt her coat will be lovely when it grows out. In the meantime, she's loved staying warm in her sweaters and really seems to like dressing up, but she is no diva! Her loving disposition is beyond comparison. Cuddly and sweet, Miracle has so many Cavalier hugs and kisses to give. She wants to be by your side - or even better, in your arms or lap.

When Miracle first arrived to foster care, she was frightened and very timid. She spent most of the first few days curled up toward the back of an open-door crate, observing her environment and figuring everyone out. Little by little (and with encouragement), Miracle decided she felt safe enough to being exploring and seeking affection. It is reasonable to assume she will do the same when she moves again, but she will come out of her shell in her own time.

She has yet to decide if she likes her 3 rowdy canine foster sisters, but she tolerates their shenanigans from a distance. Miracle doesn't mind the house cat, and has even let him curl up with her on occasion. Overall, her preference is to be with her people which means she's up for joining in on whatever you are doing. Miracle's penchant for snuggles makes her the perfect companion for binge-watching your favorite shows, but she's just as happy to go for a walk and explore the neighborhood (her tail wags nonstop!). If you're running errands, she wants to go with you, but an adventure to the dog park is not for her.

Miracle needs a family that will accommodate all the love she has to give. While she can be crated without issue for periods of time, she really needs to be interacting with her humans. Other mellow dogs are fine as long as Miracle is given her space, but she does not want to play with other dogs. She loves chews and treats, but doesn't seem too interested in toys (this may come over time).

A family with small children - or children who have poor boundaries with pets - is not recommended. Though Miracle hasn't bitten, she will nip and/or growl when she is scared. Her new family will need to work with her in overcoming these fear-based behaviors, building her confidence, and showing her what it means to be a treasured part of the family.
