Roxxy in Princeton, MN

Hi my name is Roxxy. I am a fun loving spayed girl who loves to be around other dogs and to sleep in a nice warm bed. I have diabetes and need to be tested daily and given insulin twice daily. I need a very good schedule to manage my diabetes. I don’t mind the testing or the shots because I know when I am done with those things I get some great food. I love being a house dog and get along with everybody. I need to add a bit of weight, but that will come with time.

I love to chew on raw bones and greet visitors and I'm a friendly, loving companion. I would love a family that wants me for life and who will keep my schedule so I don’t get sick again. I like children but they are not good for me because they let me get treats that raise my blood sugars. I love the warm sun and laying around on the deck. I would love a retired or work at home person and someone who understands diabetes (or is willing to learn). Having another dog would be so nice too. I eat special food but you can get it at the big box stores.

I have been in a very special foster home for a long time getting my hair back and getting well and am now ready to go to my forever home. My foster Mom Shelly and Chad, her son, have taken great care of me and will help with any issues my new family might have. Shelly said she will teach you how to test and how to give me my insulin and how to keep the records for the vet to make it easy for them to keep me healthy and feeling great.

Shelly is fostering me in Princeton, Minnesota. If you are interested in me and will make me a loving new home, please fill out our online application and then contact Rescue Coordinator Kris at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. I have a healthy 7 yr old Cavalier and a diabetic Bichon. He is almost 15 and is very healthy. Don't be afraid to adopt a diabetic dog. If you give them the right dosage of insulin every 12 hours they will be fine. My dog has been living with it for 3 and a half years now. We even have a pet sitter, friend and a back up kennel that does the insulin if we go on vacation.

Aww... As someone who struggles with diabetes I know how hard it can be. But you are just so cute.
