Max in Indianapolis, IN

Meet Max!  Max came into rescue when his owners could no longer afford to keep a dog. He is neutered, up to date on all shots and heart clear and he has had a dental while in rescue.

Max is a perfect dog for a quiet and loving family. He comes when you call him, plays with soft squishy toys, loves attention but will go lay down when he needs to. He can not jump up on furniture but is happy to lay in his soft bed. He does not need to be kept in a crate but will go in one if you need him to. He has been the perfect house guest. He gets along great with all his foster sisters & brothers as well as the cats.

Max is quite the snorer, but this should abate as he loses weight. His new owners must keep him on a strict diet plan. He has lost 5 lbs since coming into rescue but needs to lose about 10 more. He does have hip issues and arthritis in his rear legs and so climbing stairs would be difficult for him. There's really nothing that can be done at his age, other than losing weight, but he gets along pretty well in spite of it. Since coming into rescue he has been taking a joint supplement that is really helping him be much more comfortable and is helping to build strength in his legs. In fact, the other evening he was able to pull himself up on a foot stool while having a toy in his mouth. He could never have done that 6 weeks ago. The supplement is available at Pet Smart and costs about 60 cents per day. It's very important that he remain on this to help assure quality of life. It would be best that Max not be taken on walks.

If you want a quiet, calm, super easy to love and care for Cavalier, Max is the one. If you would like to be considered, please complete the online application and drop his foster mom an email to let her know you're interested at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Max is great. We have found that he doesn't like "some" cats. But he's lost more weight and gets along pretty well for what he has to work with. I don't recall discussing him with you but if we have I apologize. Please email me if you'd like more info. Thanks!

Hey, Max! We are out checking on our little spaniels in foster care and are wondering how you are doing. Take care and, if you have a few minutes, let us know how everything is going. We think of you often!

Max still weighs around 25 lbs. It would be difficult to carry him up and down stairs all the time. I do have another applicant that is in the process now. Thank you for your interest in our rescue. Keep watching!

I would love to get an update on Max! Our house has stairs, but we would find a way to make them easier to navigate, or would carry him if needed.
